New ROUNDIT® products will be launched at InnoTrans 2018
Southfield, Mich. July 17, 2018… Federal-Mogul Powertrain will launch two new rail industry wire and cable systems protection products at InnoTrans 2018, Berlin, Germany, September 18-21, Hall 1.2/Stand 210. ROUNDIT® EMI DW and ROUNDIT® 2000 FR GRIP, which utilize aerospace-proven technologies optimized for railway use and promote ease of installation.
“Federal-Mogul’s Systems Protection products provide our customers with a broad range of advanced textile solutions that provide tangible business benefits; our new ROUNDIT products not only offer enhanced performance and safety, but reduce installation time and complexity,” said Gian Maria Olivetti, Chief Technology Officer, Federal-Mogul Powertrain. “ROUNDIT 2000 FR GRIP and EMI DW have been developed using a blend of innovative manufacturing techniques, materials and technologies to provide ease and flexibility of use. Engineers will be able to carry fewer tools, a reduced range of components and complete maintenance jobs more efficiently.”
The unique new integrated loop fixation system of ROUNDIT 2000 FR GRIP has undergone extensive tensile strength testing as part of the development process at Federal-Mogul Systems Protection’s Crépy-en-Valois, France technical center and enables harnesses to be worked on in confined spaces with fewer tools. Fully compatible with EN 45545-2 regulations, the flame-retardant technology is suitable for providing abrasion protection of wire harnesses at operating temperatures from -50oC to +85oC. The product can be applied and removed without discarding or manipulating existing connectors or fittings, making it ideal for areas requiring breakouts; the fixation system enables self-location, resulting in a 25 percent reduction in the space needed for attachment to a structure when compared to traditional wire harness fixation systems.
ROUNDIT EMI DW features a self-wrapping design for high performance EMI protection of wire and cable bundles. The durable construction consists of UL 94 V0 rated PPS monofilaments and nickel-plated copper wires that meet ASTM B-355 standards, and is suitable for conditions between -50oC to +200oC. It can be installed and removed quickly for assembly and maintenance, and the built-in drain wires can be crimped to a nearby grounding point, promoting ease of use and making the product ideal for reworking components without disconnection. ROUNDIT EMI DW also provides a consistent level of EMI shielding, regardless of diameter (within the application range R0 max, 6mΩ, Lt, 1.2 nH/m), enabling engineers to carry a reduced stock range.
Further details can be found at Stand 210, Hall 1.2 at InnoTrans 2018, the world’s leading trade fair for transport technology. The event attracts almost 3000 exhibitors from 60 countries, with around 140,000 trade visitors expected to fill 41 exhibition halls.
