Eco-friendly innovation has applications for additional products, factories

Wiesbaden, Germany, March 17, 2011 … Materials scientists at Federal-Mogul Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML) have developed an innovative material that eliminates a costly and energy-intensive curing process used throughout the industry. The unique new elastomeric compound, called K16, improves Federal-Mogul’s leading technology in UNIPISTON bonded hydraulic clutch pistons and enables the company to reduce the environmental footprint of its manufacturing operations with significant reductions in CO2 emissions and natural gas consumption. Federal-Mogul is believed to be the first company to develop such a system for manufacturing high-performance rubber products.

It was confirmed today that the last flying Vulcan, an iconic example of British technical achievement, has comfortably passed all the vital safety checks that will allow the aircraft to embark on her biggest display season ever.  But to hit the season with stable finances, the charity that operates her must raise £350,000 before the end of May. One of the reasons is the imposition of new European VAT regulations.

Ex-servicemen travel to R.A.F Lyneham to pay tribute to Cold War icon

21 Chelsea Pensioners visited R.A.F Lyneham on Thursday to receive a guided tour of XH558, the only Vulcan bomber left flying.  The iconic aircraft brought back strong memories for some of the pensioners who had direct involvement with the Vulcan during the Cold War.  Known for its innovative delta wing layout and distinctive sound, the Vulcan has long been a symbol of British technical and military excellence: the delight this aircraft brought to the distinguished visitors was clear to see, with one of the guests commenting “this is fantastic, the Vulcan really is the pride of Britain”
